About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Managing Director, Mortgage Investments, the successful candidate would join our team as a Director, Mortgage Investments. The primary responsibility of the Director is to identify, source and structure mortgage investments for Kingsett’s Senior Mortgage Fund or High Yield Fund.

Role Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a continuous pipeline of business opportunities which are suitable for Kingsett’s debt solutions.
- Expand and maintain strong relationships with the brokers, lenders, owners, developers, consultants and service providers who are active in your target markets.
- Meet with potential borrowers to understand their opportunities, challenges and business objectives in order to identify potential solutions.
- Conduct preliminary review of new mortgage opportunities, including site visit, high-level due diligence, and analysis to confirm assumptions for deal structure.
- Recommend structure and pricing and negotiate term sheet with potential borrowers.
- Oversee the preparation of comprehensive investment analyses and proposals for investment committee to qualify opportunities based on defined investment objectives.
- Present and defend opportunities at investment committee.
- Assist the underwriting team with loan assessment, structuring, and due diligence for closing.
- Ensure all loans conform to KingSett policies and procedures.
- Increase market awareness of the KingSett brand by attending and participating in industry conferences and discussion panels both inside and outside of regular business hours.
- Be a team player, helping to support the success of the Mortgages team and KingSett as a whole.
- Be familiar with the range of products offered by KingSett throughout the capital stack in order to identify and refer opportunities to other professionals within the company.
Candidate Profile
- University degree in business or related field.
- 7-10 years of commercial real estate experience, preferably in an origination role.
- Strong knowledge of the major Canadian real estate markets across various asset classes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of real estate investment analysis, transactional risk management and financial structuring.
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to analyze complex financial, legal and contractual challenges and to provide practical solutions or recommendations.
- Ability to quickly analyze and prioritize debt opportunities to effectively utilize time and resources.
- Familiarity with, and ability to negotiate complex lending agreements.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- At ease with formal and informal presentations.
- Excellent negotiation and critical thinking skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
